Flying Solo

So, today is the first day since Emma's arrival that I am at home with both kids by myself. Truett has been staying with my parents or Jay's parents during the day while Jay is at work. Being that I was/am still recovering from the c-section, I can't pick up Truett and he is pretty active. He LOVES to jump and tackle, which didn't seem like a fun activity to me, post-op! :)

Anyway, this morning has been great! Emma slept while Truett and I made and had muffins together for breakfast. When we were done, Truett sat with me and watched his favorite morning show while I fed Emma...chomping at the bit the ENTIRE time to hold Emma! When Emma had had enough to eat, Truett held her and kissed her until he decided he was ready for a snack (approx. 3 minutes!).

While Truett enjoyed his snack, Emma slept in her swing. That also gave Truett and I time to play in his room, color and write Thank You notes. As you can see, I've even managed to slip in some time to blog! SUPER MOM! hahaha :)

Truett has been a great big brother and has been very helpful around the house.

He helps me take care of Emma.

He even helps out by dressing himself.

It really feels great to have Truett 'incorporated' back into our lives. It was SUCH a blessing to have time to get settled in and healed up a bit before taking that plunge, but Jay, Truett and I were ALL ready to have Truett with us. Not sure how Emma's taking it, but... :)

Praytor Party of Four!

Well, we're all home and have started getting settled in with Emma. Truett has pretty much been on ''vacation" since Emma was born. Last night was only the 2nd night since Emma's arrival, that he has slept at our house. My parents and Jay's parents have been so amazing. Jay and I are definitely spoiled because we know there are so many couples out there who don't have the luxury of having the help from 2 sets of parents! It was nice to be able to come home and rest and focus on getting Emma situated but it was time for Truett to come home. I think he was ready, too! He was great last night. Of course, we still had our usual battles with him...he wanted to eat a snack instead of eating supper, he didn't want to take a bath or a shower because he told me, "I not dirty right now.", he wanted to sleep in our bed instead of getting into his bed. Now that I think about it, maybe he wasn't so great last night...maybe I just missed him that much! :)

Truett has been so great with Emma. I was so worried about him acting out against her or being mad that she was here, but he absolutely ADORES her. Every time he walks by her, he stops, pets her head or her face and says, "Hi, Emma!" Then, he immediately turns to us and says, "Let me hold her." The entire time he holds her, he just stares at her and gigggles. It is so sweet to see them together.

This morning, Jay was getting ready for work and I was getting Truett's clothes together to dress him for school. I walked into our bedroom and found Truett rocking Emma's bassinet and singing 'Rock-a-Bye Baby' to her. When I walked over to the bassinet, I found that Truett had gone into Emma's room and got the baby doll that HE had picked out for her a few weeks agao at the store and had put it next to her in her bassinet. VERY SWEET!

Truett has Open House tonight at his school from 6:00 - 6:45 and Emma's staying with my mom. I'm really glad this is something that Jay and I can do with just Truett and have it be all about him. I'm excited to have some alone time with Truett, even if just for 45 minutes.

Happy Birthday to You!

While Truett was loving up on Emma, we told him to sing a song to her. He started singing "Happy Birthday" to her. It was the sweetest thing and I couldn't have picked a more perfect song myself!

Truett showed up yesterday evening to meet Emma for the first time. As soon as he walked in the room, he made a bee line straight for her. He kept hugging her and kissing her and just let out little giggles here and there. He held her and rubbed her face and her hair. At one point, she started crying and he said, "Don't cry, baby." in the saddest little voice ever!

Emma gave Truett some gifts for being such a great big brother. Needless to say, he was FIRED UP about it.

We're so excited about his initial reaction to Emma and just pray that his sweet and loving attitude towards her continues. :)

Sweet Baby Emma

Emma made her grade debut this morning at 9:42 a.m. Much to our surprise, she weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds, 2 ounces!!! Thank GOD for c-sections because my actual due date isn't for another 9 days! Also to our surprise, she was born with RED hair...more of a strawberry blonde, but none the less, it's neither light brown like Jay nor dark brown like mine. Truett has been saying all along that Emma was going to have pink hair and green eyes. Not sure what her eyes are going to do, but he's been the closest so far, regarding her hair color. :)

I'm feeling pretty good and we're all doing great. Truett hasn't met his baby sister, yet, but I'll definitely post more pics and info when that introduction takes place.

Thanks so much for all of your prayers, calls, emails, etc... We are definitely feeling God's presence and His blessings today!

The Final Countdown!

I've been calling it the 'light at the end of the tunnel', but thought maybe that wasn't the best phrase to use when talking about giving birth! :)

Tomorrow is the big day and we are absolutely THRILLED about Emma's arrival. I am so excited for Truett to meet his little sister and to put a face with a name. I'm still not sure if he realizes that the 'Emma' we've been talking about is an actual person and not just a nickname for my belly!

I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 7:00 so Truett will be staying the night with my parents tonight and Danny will bring him to school in the morning before coming to the hospital. I'll have the c-section at 9:00 and then Emma and I will be in our room at 11:00.

Truett will come to the hospital tomorrow afternoon after school (and a nap!) to meet Emma. Be checking back for updates...I'll post them here. I'll try to put up pics as soon as possible, too.

A Product of His "Raisin"

Well, it's official...I am DEFINITELY a mom. I had to 'surgically' remove a RAISIN from Truett's right nostral today!

He was sitting at the table, having his afternoon snack and all of sudden, he starts SCREAMING. I ran over to him and asked him what was wrong and he says, "My nose! I have a raisin in there!" I'm hoping he was freaked out enough by it that he won't attempt putting anything else in his nose, but that could just be wishful thinking. :)
