Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

The results from my first glucose screening came back abnormal, so I had to go in for a 3-hour test. I was contemplating having donuts for lunch and candy for dinner just incase the final results came back abnormal, as well! Yesterday when I went in for the ultrasound, they told me my test results had come back normal, so I do not have gestational diabetes!!! YEAH! I guess that means no sugar binge for me. :)

The doctor did the ultrasound and measured Emma's little growing body. He said everything looks great and, based on her size, she's about 3 1/4 pounds and my due date moved up a week. Of course, that really doesn't matter at this point because October 3rd is my scheduled c-section...unless Emma plans to come out and play earlier than that. She is also breech at the moment, which also is not a big deal because I will be having a c-section anyway. Other than that, he said everything is on track. I now start going every 2 weeks. It's amazing how in some aspects of pregnancy, the days seem like weeks and in others, the time just flies by!

We had Emma's nursery painted last weekend and her furniture came in today. Jay will pick up her furniture this evening. I'm really excited about it because it will be one more thing to check off of the 'get ready' list. Also, it will give us the chance to put some final touches on Truett's 'Big Brother' room. It's a little overwhelming to try to decorate and create 2 rooms at once.

I went to the "parents' kick-off" at Truett's school this week. I'm really excited for him because he loves the interaction with the other kids. He learned so much last year just in the 2 days a week he was there. There is also a very good chance that he will have the same teacher he had last year, who also happens to be a dear friend of mine, so I'm also excited about that. Ultimately, we just pray that he will be in the class that is best for him. Hopefully his listening skills and table manners will improve this year! :)

My, How They Grow!

So, Truett had his 2-year check up yesterday. The doctor said everything looks great and that Truett is moving right along. Dr. Mac and his nurse were both surprised at how well he listened and followed directions for a 2-year-old. I was surprised at how well he listened and followed directions for being Truett! :) They both commented, as well, on how much he talked and how good his vocabulary was for his age...HELLO! Have you me ME? I'm his mom...are any of you surprised that MY child would have an extended vocabulary at an early age???? :)

I also had a doctor's appointment yesterday where they screened me for gestational diabetes. I'll have the results on Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, I'm headed back to the doctor on Thursday for an ultrasound because Dr. Indelman says that I'm measuring big. He wants to do an ultrasound so he can see her and measure her to check her size. She may be a late September baby instead of an early October! I'll update after Thursday.

To Sell or Not to Sell....THAT is the Question

As some of you may or may not know, we've had our house on the market for the past few months. After not having any luck selling it 'by owner', we hired a realtor last month. While we were on vacation, we got a call that we had 'sold' our house. Jay and I were both a little (maybe more than just a little...a lot!) nervous about the whole thing. Emma will be here in 2 months and we still hadn't found a house to buy.

Long story short, we decided to stay where we are for a while longer and wait to make a move. With the new baby and a new income for our family (actually, LESS of an income since I will not be teaching next year), a new house just didn't seem like the right thing for us right now.

We've started making a list of things we'd like to do to our house, since we've been living in "we're not going to change anything because we're not staying in this house" mode. First on our list (which we're tackling this morning) is to get Emma's nursery and Truett's new 'big boy' room together. Which, I guess I should be helping Jay with since he's working on the room and entertaining Truett while I sit here just typing away!

Life's a Beach!

We were at the beach last week with my family and had a great time. The trip down there was a little on the crazy side...we had my mom, my sister (Sarah), my brother (John), Truett, Jay and myself PLUS the luggage for all of us AND my dad's suitcase all piled in the Expedition!!! hahahah! Of course, we all laughed at one point because Sarah was in the back listening to her iPod, Mom, Truett and I were in the middle seat watching a movie on the DVD player and John was in the front seat watching a movie on the laptop...talk about 'roughing it'! :)

We got there at 11:00 Thursday night and Truett had just fallen asleep. Needless to say, when we got him out of the car, he was wide-eyed and bushy-tailed ready to check everything out. He didn't fall back asleep until 12:30 am! Of course, he was up at 6:30 am, so by the time we loaded everything up (snacks, drinks, beach toys, towels, chairs, sunscreen, etc...) and got out to the beach, he lasted about 20 minutes and was ready for a nap! He and Jay went in and Truett slept until 5:00!!!

We started fresh the next day and spent the entire time on the beach. Jay and John caught crabs, Sarah laid out, Truett played in the water and the sand while Mom and I sat under the canopy, out of the sun. It was great to be able to relax, even in the SCORCHING HEAT! My brother got a taste of what it's like to NOT be the youngest because Truett followed him around THE ENTIRE TIME! The only person he wanted to sit by, eat with, play with, sleep next to, etc... was John. John started to get aggravated with his little shadow, but Truett was very persistent. :) The rest of the trip was great...we played, hung out, ATE and visited with friends and family. It was a great way to spend our summer vacation.

Hot Fun in the Summertime!

We have had a busy couple of weeks at the Praytor house so it's taken me that long to get to the computer to write about any of it. We celebrated the 4th of July with our families, starting with the Coppell 4th of July Parade. We were in it last year and really had so much fun. Truett, Jay and I rode in the truck while some friends volunteered to walk the route and pass out business cards and lollipops to the crowd. This year was a little different and with Truett being a year older (and a year more ACTIVE!), it was a little crazier this time around.

My parents, Jay's parents, my brother and his friends, and Jay's brother, sister-in-law and nephew all volunteered (well, said, "Yes" when we asked) :) to help out with the parade this year. Jay's dad drove his truck and Truett and I sat in the back seat waving our flags at everyone. Truett seemed to enjoy seeing all of the people and would shout out a loud, "Happy July!" as we drove along. Jay and everyone else walked in the parade, passing out suckers and business cards...thank GOD because this preggo was about to pass out riding in the AC truck! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO OUR FAMILIES!!!!

When the parade was over, we all went to the Praytors' for burgers and hot dogs. We ended the day with some swimming at my mom's house. Unfortunately, with all of the excitement of the day and the HEAT of the day, the only interaction we had with fireworks was hearing them from our bedroom as we were falling asleep! :)
