You Are 16 Going on 17

Yesterday was Nannie Sarah's 17th birthday! Because we were celebrating Christmas with the Praytors, we celebrated Nannie's birthday today. Jay and I went to mass this morning so we brought Emma and Truett over to LeeLa's so they could stay with her. When Jay and I got back from mass, here is how we found them:
Truett was wearing Santa's clothes...
and Emma was wearing Truett's clothes!
Without going into details, Emma needed a change of clothes and didn't have any at my mom's house. My mom dug around to see what she DID have and she found a pair of Truett's sweatpants, along with a 'baby boy' bathrobe that was given to Truett as a baby. As you can see from the pictures, Emma didn't seem to mind at all. She slept peacefully in this ensemble! :)

When it was time for dinner, we enjoyed a birthday meal of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn, requested by Nannie! :) Everything was DELICIOUS!

Then, for dessert, we had TRUETT'S favorite...CAKE BALLS! I'm still not quite sure just how it came to be that Truett got to pick what kind of birthday dessert Sarah was going to have. Probably the way he gets everything else he wants...he just SAYS so! :)
Anyway, Nannie was a trooper and was perfectly happy to have cake balls for her birthday. We put a candle in her cake ball, sang Happy Birthday to her and she blew out her candle.
Next, it was time to open presents. Sarah is a fan of coffee, specifically Starbucks coffee...who isn't? So, for her birthday, we gave Sarah her very own, personalized, insulated coffee holder. We hope she enjoys many cups of coffee and/or hot cocoa in it!John gave Sarah a Burt's Bees gift set
Here is Sarah with her slipper shoes that Emily got for her. They weren't much of a surprise because Emily hid them in my mom's coat closet and right before the party, my mom pulled them out and asked if any of us knew who they were for, not knowing they were one of Sarah's birthday gifts. :) The good thing was that when Sarah saw them, she said, "I don't know who they're for, but I hope they're for me because they are WAY cute!"
LeeLa' and PaGou got Sarah a Juicy necklace that she's been wanting.
Nannie Sarah, thank you so much for all you do for Truett and Emma. Jay and I are so glad that we chose you as Truett's Nannie. Thank you for always loving him even during the times that he is not so loving to you. I PROMISE he will always know how much you love him and will, one day, return that love to you. Emma loves you so much and already knows how much you love her. :) Jay and love you and are so proud of the 17-year-old young lady you have become. Thank you for including us in your birthday celebration!
